Welcome to my studio!

I sew because there is a whole lot of world to adorn!

My insatiable desire to sew and absolute love and adoration of fabric, prints, and threads make it hard to pinpoint where the inspiration for my work comes from.  However, a few constant themes are ever-present during my creative process.

Color
In a beautiful world with hundreds of luscious 8 or 12 wt. cotton threads to choose from, each offering bold or subtle colors, I need to narrow my choices and focus. Along the way, I've picked up a straightforward rule (likely from a vintage quilting book I found in a thrift shop in a mountain town): use threads that match the fabric's background color. I've extended this thread color-focused approach beyond thread selection to consider the background color of the quilt as the foundation upon which to build complementary patterns. This simple, consistent practice helps reduce decision fatigue, allowing me to concentrate on selecting fabrics that create a distinct harmony worthy of the Stitches and Murmurs brand.

Story
I will always be a girl with a story in my head. It's just the way I'm wired. Often abstract and ephemeral, these stories are the relationships between the images, patterns, and embroideries I create. To me, these sparks of stories are what I want to share the most in the form of sewn whispers.

Connection
Art is genuinely complete when others appreciate it. My work is meant to be seen, worn, and ultimately lived with. My biggest aspiration is for others to form a material connection with the art I create, and I want it to be a part of their lives.
